The Big Picture
Tech carried the market and almost nothing else did. The Nasdaq 100 gained 1.16% while the Dow managed 0.14% and small caps 0.26%. Technology was the only sector up more than 1%, healthcare finished flat. That is a rally built on a handful of large names, not broad conviction. Bonds agreed with the risk-on read. Long Treasuries rose 0.58%, meaning yields fell, which usually helps growth stocks and financials, up 0.59%. The odd piece is metals: gold dropped 1.47% and silver 1.52% even with yields lower. A firmer dollar, up 0.14%, explains part of it. Crude fell 1.78% and natural gas 2.25%. Greed sits at 66 on CNN's index while crypto did nothing, Bitcoin at $63,346.
