The Big Picture
Cheap oil set the tone. Crude fell 4.58%, the biggest move on the board, and that single drop rippled everywhere: energy stocks lost 1.66%, while everything that benefits from lower fuel costs caught a bid. Tech led, up 0.94%, pulling the Nasdaq 100 to a 0.62% gain. Bonds agreed. Long Treasuries rose 1.1%, which means yields fell, the classic response when the inflation outlook softens. Gold added 0.32% and the dollar barely moved, so this was not a fear trade. Small caps joined, up 0.42%. Crypto missed the party. Bitcoin slipped 0.77% to $78,289 and Cardano dropped 4.1%.
