The Big Picture
The dollar set the tone. The dollar index fell 0.64% to 99.11 and the yen gained 2.25% against it, the largest single move in any major market today. When the dollar drops, assets priced in dollars get cheaper for everyone else, and almost all of them rallied. Stocks went along for the ride. The S&P 500 rose 1.05%, the Dow and Nasdaq 100 each added 1.19%, and financials led sectors up 1.56%. Metals moved harder: gold up 1.85%, silver up 2.51%. Crypto moved hardest of all, with Bitcoin up 5.25% to $81,445 and Cardano up 12.4%. The crowd is not convinced.
