The Big Picture
Tech carried the tape and nothing else showed up. Technology gained 0.70%, enough to push the Nasdaq 100 up 0.18% and leave the S&P 500 down 0.39% and the Dow down 0.53%. Healthcare fell 1.04%, financials 0.79%, energy 0.87%. That is a narrow market: one sector working, four not. The risk-off read is in crypto. Bitcoin lost 2.2% to $79,720, XRP 5.22%, Cardano 4.76%. Gold fell 0.84% and silver 1.21%, so money leaving stocks did not buy metals either. Long Treasuries took a small bid, TLT up 0.17%, and the dollar barely moved at 99.07 on DXY. Watch whether tech keeps carrying alone. CNN's Fear and Greed Index sits at 42, in Fear, with the S&P 500 only fractionally lower.
