The Big Picture
Tech was the only thing holding this market up. Technology shares rose 0.7% and carried the Nasdaq 100 to a 0.18% gain, while the S&P 500 slipped 0.39% and the Dow fell 0.53%. Everything else leaked: healthcare down 1.04%, energy down 0.87%, financials down 0.79%. This was not a flight to safety. Gold fell 0.84% and silver 1.21%, so nobody was paying up for protection. Bitcoin dropped 0.92% to $79,185. Long Treasuries got a small bid, with TLT up 0.17%, and the yen firmed as USD/JPY fell 0.96% to 154.75. The yen move is the one to watch.
