The Big Picture
Technology carried the tape. The Nasdaq 100 rose 2.77% and the tech sector matched it at 2.77%, pulling the S&P 500 up 1.55%. The Dow added 0.76% and the Russell 2000 managed 0.52%, so this was a rally in a narrow set of names, not a rally in everything. Crypto ran harder than stocks. Bitcoin jumped 7.12% to $86,903, XRP gained 8.56% and Solana added 7.48%. Cheap energy helped: crude fell 3.68%, which knocked the energy sector down 2.88% but lowers input costs everywhere else. Long bonds firmed and the dollar slipped 0.29%, both of which loosen financial conditions. The check on all of this is breadth.
