The Big Picture
Technology carried the whole market, and it wasn't enough. The Nasdaq 100 rose 0.25% on a 0.64% gain in tech, while the Dow fell 0.84% and the S&P 500 slipped 0.21%. Healthcare, down 1.35%, and financials, down 1.13%, did the damage. Money left the safety trade too. Silver dropped 1.75%, gold 0.54%, and TLT, the fund that tracks 20-year Treasuries, fell 0.58%, which means long-term borrowing costs rose. Crude oil's tracking fund gained 1.61%, the day's largest commodity move. Crypto barely twitched: bitcoin at $83,649, up 0.03%. The tell is the crowd. CNN's Fear and Greed Index sits at 31, in Fear, even as tech holds up. Watch whether the Russell 2000, down 0.4%, keeps lagging.Fear & Greed Index
