The Big Picture

The Dow did the heavy lifting, up 3.11%, with financials up 3.51% and healthcare up 3.08% carrying the tape. The S&P 500 added 1.63% and the Russell 2000 1.52%. Technology sat it out at -0.03%, so the Nasdaq 100's 0.97% gain was the weakest of the four indices. This was a rotation rally, not a tech rally. Energy was the wreck: the sector fell 4.72% as USO, the crude oil ETF, dropped 8.07%. The rest of the session leaned the same way: long Treasuries rose 0.81%, the dollar index fell 0.6% to 101.25, and Bitcoin climbed 2.92% to $80,136. The odd piece is metals. Gold up 3.67% and silver up 5.17% is not what a clean risk-on day looks like, and CNN's Fear and Greed Index still reads 27, Fear. Watch whether tech joins or the breadth fades.
